In a commanding performance on their home court, the Westminster Warriors secured a resounding victory with a final score of 98-68 against Ipswich Basketball. The game was marked by standout performances on both sides of the court.
Justin Hitchman, a seasoned 9th-year player for the Westminster Warriors, emerged as the top scorer of the game with an impressive 29 points. Hitchman displayed his scoring versatility, demonstrating his ability to put points on the board in various ways. However, what truly set the Warriors apart was their collective effort. They spread the scoring across the entire team, emphasizing teamwork and selfless play, which caused significant problems for the opposition. This collaborative approach was reflected in both scoring and assisting throughout the game.
In addition to Hitchman’s impressive showing, returners Jon J Johnson and Jardell Kerr also made significant contributions, each tallying 13 points for the Warriors. Their combined efforts added to the team’s scoring depth and further solidified the Warriors’ dominant display.
While Ipswich Basketball faced a formidable opponent, they had their bright points. Rebounding and shooting were their strengths, particularly on the offensive end, with Day excelling in grabbing offensive rebounds and contributing to second-chance opportunities.
For Ipswich Basketball, McKew stood out as their top scorer with 16 points. His performance was notable, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Warriors’ dominant showing.
Looking ahead, the Westminster Warriors are set to face Oaklands Basketball in their next game, this time on the road. Oaklands will be determined to prove their strength on home ground, setting the stage for another exciting matchup in the league.
